Blueberry Hill Farm
Jonesborough, Tennessee
More Information On This Vendor
Blueberry Hill Farm started as a retirement project and has become a successful u-pick operation. Apple trees and other fruit trees are recent additions. They grow as organically as possible, only spot-spraying with OMRI-/NOP-approved organic sprays like neem oil. The owners often go out and collect Japanese beetles by hand before resorting to spraying. They are experimenting with row covers to prevent beetle pressure.
About 20 varieties of early-, mid-, and late-season berries sit on 2-3 acres and grow to extend their u-pick season. Depending on the variety, some berries may be as large as a quarter and are noted for their superior taste. The berries are suitable for eating, freezing, and baking. The plants are protected by a raised bird netting to reduce the loss of fruit to birds and make picking easier.
